Craft Your College Essay

Structure + soul-searching = essays that open doors

I keep my roster small so I can truly get to know each student. We gently excavate their life experiences, unearthing details that make their essays so specific and personal, no one else could've written them.

of 1:1 guidance per student, from brainstorming, outlining, drafting, 5+ rounds of revisions, all the way to final submission.

100%

of students say the writing process felt surprisingly enjoyable and they learned a lot about themselves. The majority said they felt less stressed than their friends.

Writing college essays doesn't have to be an uphill slog.

If you feel like you’re lost in a maze deciding what to write about, you’ve come to the right place.

And if you’re short on ideas, you might need a fresh perspective and someone to help you dive deep.

Imagine *actually* looking forward to working on your college essays.

Jessica helps students reflect more deeply, articulate what they truly think, and write essays that show off multiple facets of themselves.

If you’re having trouble figuring out how to get moving, you don't have to go it alone.

Jessica gives custom, bite-size writing assignments, so you spend less time staring at a blank document and feel more confident in your pace.

Working with me

Every student has different needs. Let's get on a call so you can tell me about where you personally are at, and let's make a plan to set you up for a saner, less-stressful season.

Long-Term Weekly Support

1:1 Coaching

Guidance through every edit and existential crisis

For students who have a hard time generating ideas and/or work better with structure and accountability. I'll partner with you from blank doc to final draft, delivering pep talks and/or calling you out depending on the context.

We’ll tackle everything—polish your personal statement and college-specific supplemental essays, but also explain that iffy grade situation and maximize the storytelling we do through your activities list.

Ad Hoc Guidance

Targeted Coaching

Support when you need it, freedom when you don’t

Great for students who identify as self-starters and are fairly confident writers.

You don’t want or need me in your ear every week, so you’ll get access to all my videos (brainstorming, structure, editing), plus a batch of 1:1 calls you can use for whatever you're stuck on. You can bounce ideas off me, get your outlines looked over, or have me help you trim those last 200 words without sacrificing important details about yourself.

2-Hour, 1-Time Session

Essay Overhaul

Bring a messy draft, leave with a clear set of follow-ups

This is for students who have a ton of ideas but want help sifting through the chaos to tell a coherent story.

During our Zoom session, I'll untangle areas that are confusing to readers, identify compelling details you may be overlooking, and help organize your ideas. My goal is to help you avoid the trap of oversimplifying your story—essentially, to make room for complexity while maintaining clarity.

Meet your

Chief Sanity Officer

Applying to college is a taxing journey, but having a guide can make it an adventure. I was raised in Silicon Valley, so I know it can be challenging to stand out among high-achieving peers. As a coach, I'm here to guide you by providing actionable support through each phase of the writing process:

  • asking questions that force you to think more deeply

  • curating anecdotes that reveal your values and personality

  • giving you options on how to phrase your thoughts coherently, at both the sentence and word level

  • helping you edit your work down to 150-350 words while maximizing what you share about yourself

Notes from previous clients

"Jessica worked with my sons revisiting their life experiences, crafting their original and sincere essays. I was so touched and almost crying when I read their essays. Jessica is true to herself and with her students. My sons were admitted to UC Berkeley Engineering in
2021 and 2023."
